First Tee Life Skills Experience

First Tee uses golf to teach kids life lessons and leadership skills with an innovative curriculum–Life Skills Experience (LSE)–developed by leading youth educators and coaches. LSE is a tiered program with five levels. Kids can begin as early as age 7, then advance at their own pace as they meet minimum ages and demonstrate proficiency in both their golf and character skills. Upon graduating from high school, young people can remain active by joining First Tee’s Alumni Network.

At First Tee-GCNKY, we offer multi-week LSE sessions in spring, summer and fall at a variety of area golf course teaching locations. We welcome all kids regardless of background or means. No previous golf experience is needed and we provide all equipment. Our chapter serves Hamilton, Clermont, Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties.

*Although kids must be 7 years old to participate in Life Skills Experience classes, we offer Little Chipper classes for 5 and 6 year old kids who would like to try out golf. These classes are an abbreviated version of our Life Skills Experience classes and a good chance to preview what First Tee classes are all about.

The Power of Relationships

At First Tee, we know success hinges on our Coaches and we’ve proved the best outcomes for kids happen when they can form meaningful, quality relationships with positive adult role models. All our classes are led by a Head Coach who is assisted by a team of volunteers, and typically also a golf professional best suited to teach swing mechanics. All of them are trained to understand The First Tee coaching philosophy and the building blocks of our unique curriculum. To the kids, each of them is “COACH.”

First Tee gave (my daughter) confidence and helped her learn how to set goals and dream big. She met great kids and coaches.  She always says it feels like home to her.”  — First Tee GCNKY Parent, Dec 2016
